Cause of male pattern hair loss and hair loss treatment
Understanding the cause of the androgenetic alopecia or male pattern hair loss is essential to understand the hair loss treatment. Androgenetic Alopecia or otherwise known as baldness is not something which occurs because of your fault. It is neither because of the water that you use to wash your hair nor because of your food habits. It is a purely a genetic process. The details of why it exactly occurs are a bit complex. There are too many chemicals/receptors/enzymes and pathways involved. However a simplified explanation is given below. The process which causes your beard hair to grow and thicken over time is exactly the same process which causes hair from the central part of the scalp to shed. Body hair including beard hair in males thicken and grows under the influence of a male hormone called “dihydotestosterone” or “DHT”. DHT is derived from the male hormone ‘testosterone’ when testosterone reaches the hair follicles. For the body hair, beard hair and hair from the back & sides of the scalp, the DHT is a growth factor but it is quiet toxic to the hair from the central scalp.
